· complex systems built without rigid structuring — the adaptation of the idea of a wild state to design, of "subsumption architectures" which work through the chaotic harmony of many parts controlling the whole.

· this wildness, 'wilding' finds a likeness in guerrilla warfare as set against traditional and contemporary military strategy and operations.


· the presence, indications, proof, or signs of malicious 'wilding,' seen as aberrant in highly ordered societies, provokes shock and terror.


· all space is complex. "... multiplicity and embeddedness, combined with the critical presence of a 'thick' time, allows for the open-ended interactions of parts — the hybridizations, blendings, and conflicts — that effectively destroy a structure's determinism and that feed its wildness."

· polygenetic: expansive qualitatively, relatively; open; unfinished. "the urban may be characterized precisely by this constellation of 'polygenetic' qualities; it is promiscuous, evolving manifold, to be distinguished whenever possible from the term 'city,' which, in its saddest form, may consist of nothing more than a stillborn, mechanical, man-made design."

· "design today must find ways to approximate these ecological forces and structures, to tap, approximate, borrow, and transform morphogenetic processes from all aspects of wild nature, to invent artificial means of creating living artificial environments."
